“So sorry to see the end of our relaxing stay in this magical place. Your home is so lovingly cared for and could not have been a more comfortable base for our 3 days of adventure around the volcano. We especially enjoyed seeing the display at the summit at night and the lava entering the sea — in spite of our somewhat harrowing bike ride in pitch black and pelting rain and wind on the return! Thank you for everything” Debbie & Bert, Greensboro, North Carolina

“What a wonderful, cozy home. We loved the décor, especially the Kimono robe and Kimono fabric pillows and colorful quilts on the end of the beds. Maggie was super nice and took great care of us. From here, we hiked the Kilaeua Iki trail and the trail to the Petroglyphs. WE marveled a the red glow from the Jagger Museum after dinner. In this lovely home, we made French toast topped with caramelized local bananas and lilikoi butter from Hilo; did homework on the living room table (2 sentences in a vacation journal each day—1st grade is not joke!); tested our fire-starting skills and enjoyed the fire; drank and bathed in rainwater (so cool); opened the doors to hear the rainforest birds; and snuggled into bed and read more Harry Potter before falling fast asleep. Thank you for sharing your lovely home. Mahalo nui loa,” —From Menlo Park, CA

“This is a marvelous guest house! The house is perfectly appointed for one’s every need & want. The grounds are my favorite part. I am a gardener so I thoroughly enjoyed wandering around outside listening to & looking at the birds while admiring the plant materials & their placement on the property. There are so many delightful venues one hardly knows where to go. Hale KupuKupu definitely lives up to its name & is a thoroughly enchanting spot!”—Mary
